How do I weld Inconel heat shields?

Our Inconel heat shields are extremely thin at just 0.13 mm, meaning they require minimal heat to weld effectively. The most reliable and accessible method we've found is spot welding. This can be accomplished using simple tools like a dent puller-style spot welder or even a modified MIG welder.
To convert a MIG welder for spot welding, remove the wire feed and reshape the tip into a pointed or chisel form. With low amperage settings, this setup becomes an effective contact spot welder.
